It is strange to realize how some things just start disappear from your memory. I think Ritual Feces played at the gig in venue called Factory, in central Helsinki around 2007-ish. Guy had been asking me for long time, what does it take to get Nihilist Commando to play live, and I told there needs to be bands I want to see. Thats it. So he asked who I need to be on the bill, and I told Unborn-SF, Bizarre Uproar, that kind of stuff. So that's what we got. Punk venue in middle of Helsinki city, and "skin-punkrock", noisecore, noise, scum-punk (JHV) playing. Audience equally diverse. At that time, not so many skin shows were happening, so Unborn SF pulled audience, both trad skins and boneheads. Noise guys, metal guys...    PA broke during noise gigs, there was ethnic bouncer who got telescopic baton in his head, windows were smashed, boneheads were taking the rule in mosh pit, and after all the mess, organizer was like "you got what you asked for, are you happy?!?" And I was like "YES!". Haha...
Of course mixed gigs happen still today, but scenario where punk bar in middle of city is in middle of this kind of scenario, is kind of "times that are long gone".

Next week Bizarre Uproar "hardline" LP/CD and the reissues.
Next month Vihanmiehet IV CD!

Brilliant, those sorts of mixed bill shows and chaotic results are a big part of what makes the Finnish noise "scene" so engaging in my eyes. I can only imagine what guys like Unborn SF were to make of the pure noise projects.

Scatmother – Flowers Of Maltreatment
(What an enjoyable nightmare in all its elements and creation.)
Vihanmiehet - s/t
(Grimey industrial with harsh loops and movements.)
Various – Valkoinen Kohina- White Noise
(This was my main reason why made the purchase, and all involved didn't disappoint!)

The levels it takes to run a distribution/label I'm sure I couldn't wrap my head around it, another flawless encounter with Old Europa Cafe, the purchases are another guiltless buy.

I see also that Old Europa Cafe has releases and reissues on the "forthcoming" all related to BU, Filth And Violence also Freak Animal it seems. I am fond of Rodolfo. I am extremely enthused by Hardline.

Scatmother - Flowers Of Maltreatment. Definitely one of the very best PE/Noise albums in terms of that Filth & Violence style electronics. I think of that album as a classic that's incredible from front to back! A true monolithic slab of audio filth!

I've taken an interest in Scatmother thanks to your reviews/comments, Cranial Blast. The "Scatmother Appreciation" thread you started pushed me over the edge.

I've recently acquired a pile of Scatmother releases from my favorite Canadian noise distributors (Scream & Writhe and Spruce Bog). Now I will hunt down Flowers of Maltreatment. It is my most sought-after release from the project.

Pleased to hear, Scatmother has a lot of good and interesting releases, but Flowers Of Maltreatment from front to back is perfect in my opinion. Highly recommend checking out a project called Entartun, which is a joint project by Scatmother and Yushito Fujinami. They only did the one album, but it's a stellar release!

Criminally underrated project, great from start to end. What a shame nothing else was done everafter.

New BU is a really crazy one from Pasi. Touches on all the themes of the project. Samples cover sex, racism, probably other bigotry. Extaasi has some brutally high-pitched frequencies. Like the name Hardline would suggest, this seems like a particularly crude outing for BU, both thematically and sonically (in a good way). It just beats you into submission. Some junk metal type bits a little reminiscent of Final Apocalyptic Struggle To Survive but whereas that record has a slow build up, this one is relentless. Rotat is an absolutely crushing end to the record.

Can't wait for the LP to arrive and spin it on repeat!

Yeah, Hardline is probably my favorite out of the last few recent BU "studio" albums. More hateful / brutal sounding. Track 2 might be my favorite.

with this album cd and Lp audio and art are the same. No difference really, was very satisfied how clean and strong vinyl cut was.

May have said it already, but was listening to all the 4 classic albums that were repressed at the same time as this, and new album sounds the strongest! Its not often when veteran noise makers improve the sound. Most often new tech and change into digital means things get worse.

Is he using digital gear now?  I don't think I have seen too many discussions of his equipment in general, but all of the performance photos/videos I have seen appear to be analog gear plus metal/feedback.

FreakAnimalFinland

Not digital in sense of digital gear we generally think of (lap top noise / software), but most of his stuff been digital stuff for 15 years at least? I mean, multi-effects, loopers, that sort of things. Of course huge amps and gritty recording may give impression of "analogue noise". New albums are pretty much acoustic metal junk and other sources on samplers and the analogue element is mixer and filter. He doesn't use computer for noise making, but for long times it is mostly samplers playing loops and line-recordings for maximum clarity for details.

More clarity, and yet no less brutality. "Hardline" album walks again the very thin line between almost-soothing noise and audial sado-masochism.

Ah, that makes a lot of sense.
