did anyone listen to the new death grips (government plates)?

i thought it was cool

Cementimental

Yeah, I liked it. I like all their stuff despite all the hype and backlash and publicity stunts.

Some of you might be interested to know they've released stems of three of their albums. I think there have already been a few noise remixes. :)

hope they do the same for The Money Store, most of the stuff i'd like to sample is on that one...

Been enjoying this Finnish rap group a bit lately,

Ruger Hauer - Jenkem
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3S_NJF8B5TU

Of course, them being Finnish, there are bound to be asses and gasmasks, hehe..

Ruger Hauer's album Ukraina is probably the best hip hop album for my taste. There is some post-apocalyptic feel in the whole album and the music/beats/words are a bit more challenging than most hip hop out there.

Usually I tend to think that hip hop is a laugh and a parody of itself... just like metal.

Some years ago I bought a cd "Genital warfare" by Suicidal Rap Orgy. Album was released by dualPLOVER, label which some noisiacs might recognise. Song titles like "Bullets Up Ya Cunt", "Kitty Fucker" & "Anal Sucking Fun" give you the idea what it is all about. Did listen to it two times... I think. Musicwise not so good. Like semen-soaked hip hop version of Gwar.

So Death Grips are dead now. Conflicted feelings about this...they were an exciting project so it sucks. However, it makes sense to kill it now because it would just be weird for a band like this to exist for many years. They don't seem like the kind of guys who will resurrect a dead project, either. So, by ending it now when they're probably at their peak of popularity, they are cementing their legacy. Don't be surprised years down the road when you start seeing lots of musicians citing Death Grips as a big influence.

As far as the criteria laid out in the OP, Death Grips fit the bill. This band should be at the top of the list for anyone who listens to noise/pe/metal and wants to listen to some hiphop/rap that isn't the stereotypical pop crap. Dark, drugged-out gutter punk attitude and harsh, glitched out sounds. MC Ride's lyrics and delivery create an intense, paranoid, and fucked-up atmopshere. Plus, the dude has the Necronomicon sigil of the gateway tattooed on his chest and a pentagram on his back. Not many rappers with that kind of ink, haha

Really hope they are going to make yet another vinyl pressing of "No Love Deep Web". News suck!

Not long ago I read something about Warp Records signing them to a deal that covers all past and future releases. Who knows if that's still happening but I did read in the break-up announcement that their double album The Powers that B is still coming out later this year. They just released part of it as an EP a few weeks ago, every track uses vocal samples from Bjork.

Vinyl reissues would be welcomed because The Money Store is the only one that can be had for a normal price right now. Get it while you can I guess, who knows if it'll be repressed once sold out.
