I've got a bit of experience in the left of the US, and it is precisely this type of identity politics which prevents any kind of genuine leftist work from being productive.
I'll never forget when I was watching the OWS stuff transpire, how it got totally co-opted by the identity politics train.
What started out as a lot of people from various backgrounds agitating against Wall st fraud, rapidly devolved into factionalism.
One event sticks out; when a young black woman was speaking from the little stage and said 'you white people are mad about your mortgages, well we never had no mortgages!'. She went on to say a bunch of really stupid stuff about how they were not going to let a bunch of white liberals get away with having their little revolution before they fixed everything else first.
Except about a month previous that same stage was filled with people from all over the community, black, brown, asian, white, testifying about how the banks were still stealing their houses and Obama's administration was doing nothing. Yeah, they had mortgages.

There was also that cute OWS thing 'step up, step back' where if you were a straight white person (esp male!) you were expected to cede your turn to comment to anyone who was less white, less straight or less male than you.
It was quite hilarious when they spent about an hour detailing which -isms trumped other -isms.
Like a black gay male should cede the podium to a white gay paraplegic muslim etc.

well besides being annoyed that I missed that show(I'm in Brooklyn but I have zero luck at finding out about shows before they happen), I'm kind of sick of stories like this.
What does the writer want? nice safe heavy metal with nothing offensive, no violence and probably free range gluten free BBQ served as well?
I've noticed that out of the really great shows I've been to, and the really bad shows I have been to, there is a direct correlation between the 'safety' of the venue and the suckiness.
The underground shows at places that would not pass fire safety inspection are usually the best. That is where I have seen the best noise, metal, synth-punk, hip hop and hardcore shows.
The mainstream venues with great sound and lighting also come with stupid bouncers. And wussy clientele.
I prefer there to be some danger around the edges.
Anyone else go to punk shows in the 80's where every. single. show. someone broke the bathroom? Seemed like a couple times a month a good leg or arm breaking as well. That kind of violence and disregard for safety breeds a different kind of scene. Well, there were also a lot of hard drugs too.

One of the worst shows I ever attended was Babyland (and some other derivative goth band) at House of Usher in San Francisco. A huge venue in south of market with a massive club music oriented sound system. A reason Babyland was very enthusiastic about playing.
Well about halfway through their set the promoters put the kabosh on the performance. They had an oil drum on stage with stuff on fire in it, and they were banging on it. You know, early 90's industrial tropes. Stuff they were well known for doing. Then the promoters spray a fire extinguisher in the can, point blank. Which launches shit everywhere. Luckily it did not turn into a rapid conflagration and instead just ended up staining the acoustic treatment. Which they tried to blame the band for!
The ended up tossing the band and equipment out of the club. No pay.
Hilariously one of the promoter/booker people shouted something to the effect 'its not 77 anymore you punks!'.
When I saw the same band at some warehouse in Northridge a year or so earlier it was much better. Even with the shitty Peavey PA.

I'm so sick of being called a sociopath by feminists, it's like their favorite buzzword. They don't know what the word means, they base it off of whether or not your positions align with theirs, it makes me feel like trolling the everloving fuck out of them. Except what's really the difference between speaking honestly to a feminist or just trolling them? You can say honest things and it will have the same effect, there's not even a need to troll, so that's what I will do even more. It hurts my feelings when people say that I'm a "sociopath", which btw, seems insulting, because I bet there's a lot of so called sociopaths who don't even hurt anyone.

Honestly, I was trying to be friends with this person on a PC gaming network site, then they said they read a post from my tumblr, and they went on this big rant about how I'm a scum bag, should have been aborted, just all this horrible rude nasty shit. Honestly, it hurts my feelings, when I reach out to someone and want to be their friend, then they pull this nasty buzzword laden crap on me. I guess I'm glad that I didn't actually accept anyone's offer on that feminism forum when a few of them reached out and said they would be my friend. That's the last thing I want to be, is friends with a feminist.

You can't even say feminism is about rights for everyone, it has a gendered prefix in front of it. It's either about rights for women, which is fine, or it's about freedom from "the patriarchy" and oppression from men, who are like some omnipresent devil to some of them. Egalitarianism and humanism are really the only ideologies that make sense, in terms of progressive ideologies.

So, I'm going to try to go over this again, just because I want to make sure I am extra clear about it. I "feel bad" for "people like brock turner", "the rapist". I think it sucks that anyone was "born into this society", and I really don't dislike someone unless they're "really fucking stupid and obnoxious". Being a rapist doesn't automatically make you "really fucking stupid and obnoxious". I think we're all animals, I don't think there's good and bad animals, there's no ultimate good and bad in anything. Everything simply is what it is, and I also believe in determinism, which is to say that things are what they are because it's the order of the universe and it's physical laws. That is not fucking "condoning rape". I do not "condone rape". I am not some dirt bag who thinks it's really great that brock turner went and raped a girl, I just "don't fucking care". I think there's plenty of criminals who do bad things, but aren't unintelligent obnoxious pieces of shit like the guy who built that giant fucking Arc, a testament to human ignorance.

And I went over this with the feminist, at greater length than I'm going into right now. I could pull out verbatim what I said to her, but that would be a waste of time, I gave you the gist of it. I wanted to like feminists, I really did, because feminists and I agree on a lot of issues. I just can't get over how fucking stupid they are, but I know that not all of them are like that (at least, I'd imagine that they're not all like that, because you can't generalize an entire group of people).

Google is a search engine that has a lot of other components such as blogging sites, cloud hosted office apps etc.
They aren't the fucking government. That they choose not to host content is not infringing on anyone's freedom of speech. It's just saying get the hell off of my front porch.
When I have been a webmaster or forum admin for various sites I've had to deal with this. People seem to think they are entitled to everything on the internet, forever. And if you turn off their account or restrict their access to the site which YOU pay the bills for, they freak the fuck out.

As far as Dennis Cooper specifically. Zero sympathy for someone who trusts over a decade of work to blogger and has zero backups. If he gives a damn about his own work he owes it to himself to get his house in order. Behaving the same as someone who blogs about stamp collecting or pictures of cats wearing hats belies a lack of seriousness, or just utter ineptitude.

If the art you present is even mildly offensive, do not trust all of it to one online presence. And certainly do not do so without any backups.
It is a well known behavior of corporations, especially internet corps, to play 'cover your ass'. They make employees and even potential employees sign NDAs. They trademark and copyright everything under the sun. And they overreact about sexual content.

Well, that's a good point. I concede to that point of view, but I still feel bad for Dennis Cooper, and I imagine that the reason they removed it was probably dumb. I don't fault Dennis Cooper for making such a careless mistake, I feel bad for him because I can't imagine how he must feel losing such a large amount of his life's work, which is also his livelyhood.
